I snapped this picture of Paula Deen the other night. Usually I feel a pang of regret that kitties don't have opposable thumbs and are seemingly forever on the wrong side of any door. Notice the slant of the ears? I believe I see a sulk around the whiskers too. If Paula Deen wore shoes she'd be tapping her high-heeled sandals and snapping her fingers to get better service.Of course, this is probably a metaphor for living authentically in our own lives: Do we spend a lot of time on the wrong side of things, forever trying to figure out how to get to the other side of our life, assuming that things are better "over there"? Deciding that where we are is where we want to be, and settling in to enjoy things, seems to be a real gift.
